Amy Whitaker is an associate professor of art and art professions at New York University, a long-time blockchain researcher in the arts, a teacher of business to artists, and a teacher of art to businesspeople. Her blockchain research has been published in Management Science and cited in Nature, and her pioneering work on fractional equity using blockchain received the Edith Penrose Award from the European Academy of Management. Her work has been widely covered in the press including The New York Times, Financial Times, Time Magazine, Fast Company, The Atlantic, The Guardian, Harper’s, The Art Newspaper, Artsy, Hyperallergic, and many others. She is the author of three books including “Museum Legs,” “Art Thinking,” and “Economics of Visual Art: Market Practice and Market Resistance.” She is co-author, with Nora Abrams, of the forthcoming book, “The Story of NFTs: Art, Technology, Democracy.”
