Shéhérazade Semsar-de Boisséson

Inaugural Executive Director, McCourt Institute

Shéhérazade Semsar-de Boisséson was the founding Chief Executive Officer of POLITICO Europe from 2015 until she stepped down in June 2021. Under her leadership, POLITICO became one of the most influential non-partisan publications ever launched in Europe. Semsar-de Boisséson also helped launch the publication's annual AI Innovation and Governance Summit, which convenes key AI and tech development players from across the globe for discussions on the future of AI and data privacy. She remains a senior adviser for Axel Springer media group and serves on the Advisory Board of POLITICO Europe.  

Prior to POLITICO, Semsar-de Boisséson was the owner and publisher of European Voice, the leading media outlet in Brussels covering E.U. policy, which she acquired from the Economist Group in 2013.

She graduated from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service in 1990 with a B.A. and an M.S. in international finance, and later served as a member of Georgetown's Board of Directors from 2013 to 2019. She is currently serving on the Advisory Board of Georgetown's School of Foreign Service, the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace & Security, and on the Board of Directors of the French-American Foundation.
